How to use Exhibit-it?

Getting Started

The site was designed to be as simple as possible. If you don't use any of the Advanced Options, default settings will be applied to your image(s) to display your work matted in a black frame on a white wall. Each new wall image will be created in HD at 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Add your files

You can upload just one or multiple files by clicking on the plus sign to browse your computer and select your file(s). If you want custom settings for each image, upload them separately in similar groups.

  • Only JPEG and PNG file formats are supported.
  • The minimum requiremend is that the width must be at least 1920 pixels and/or the height must be at least 1080 pixels.
  • RGB and Grayscale color modes are fine, though CMYK files are not supported.

Email

Only one email address is possible at this time. Your email privacy is important to us and will never be used without your consent. This is the only REQUIRED field. If you want to send the files to someone else, you can share the download email when you get it.

Message

Feel free to enter a message to yourself or web designer. This message is optional and is displayed in the email message for your reference purposes only.

Advanced Options

By entering your actual image, mat and frame dimensions, as well as a few colors options, you will be able to see proportionally how your work will look finished on the wall.

The example below was created by entering the following settings. All dimensions are in inches and colors are hex color codes.

Format

This is the image format of your background. By default this is set to 16:9, but you can select from several presets to fit the grid layout of your website or social media needs.

Image Size

This is the maximum height or width of your image. The other dimension will be calculated based on the aspect ratio of your uploaded file.

Mat Width

This is the mat board which surrounds your artwork and adds extra space inside of the frame. This dimension will be added equally to all sides outside of your image.

Mat Color

This is the color of your mat. By default this is set to #FFFFFF (white), but you can select from a few basic presets.

Frame Width

This is the front face of your frame. Combined with the image dimensions and the mat width, this will determine the very outside of the frame.

Frame Color

This is the color of your frame. By default this is set to #000000 (black), but you can select from a variety of presets that show the appearance of different wood colors.

Wall Color

This is the color of your background. By default this is set to #FFFFFF (white), but you can select from a variety of presets to try and match your home or office wall color.

Special Tips

To help you get the most out of the site, here a few advanced options tricks.

Unframed Originals

If you want your image to look like an original painting hanging on the wall without a frame, set your Mat and Frame Widths to 0 (zero).

Custom Frames

Same as above, if you have your own custom frame, be sure to include it in your uploaded image and set your Mat and Frame Widths to 0 (zero).

Floater Frames

If you want your image to look like it's in a thin metal or canvas floater frame, set your Mat and Frame Widths to between 0.125 to 0.25 and the Mat Colour to one of the darker gray presets.
